The Game…….
It’s just like solitaire—this life we play,
Some cards fall right, some drift away.
You plan, you hope, you try to bend
The rules a bit—but in the end,
There’s only so much you can do
When the last good move slips out of view.
Sometimes the shuffle leaves you cold,
No aces left, no stories told.
You watch the board, you scan the past,
But the game says “no” and ends at last.
Not every hand is built to win,
And not all journeys circle in.
Still, I played—God knows I tried.
I laughed, I loved, I mourned, I cried.
I laid each card with careful grace,
Faced the odds, took my place.
And now I sit with nothing more,
The game is done, no cards in store.
And that’s alright. I’ve made my peace.
The play was mine, the soul release.
We don’t all win—but still, we live
And give this life what we can give.
So here I rest, my final act—
A quiet truth, a life intact.
